I love fried chicken, and I make no exceptions to hide this fact from people around me. I once camped out in front of the Colonel's restaurant waiting for it to open at 9AM in the morning because my craving for fried chicken was too great. When I was in South Korea, I discovered an entirely new thing; they actually deliver fried chicken and beer right to your doorstep at any hour of the day. This was mindblowing, because where is my fried chicken when I need it at 3AM, Colonel? STEP UP TO THE PLATE.
Pun totally intended.
So, when I got the invitation to try out a very popular South Korean franchise, Pelicana Chicken at e@Curve, Mutiara Damansara, I couldn't refuse the offer.
This is a fried chicken company that is endorsed by the likes of KPOP idol groups like 2PM and hotties SISTAR. And if you're eagle eyed enough to notice, Pelicana Chicken was also THE chicken that Cheon Song-yi (Jun Ji-hyun's character in My Love From The Star) frequently eats.
Also, another reason is because I can't say no to anything from South Korea as part of my ongoing mission of assimilating into the Korean lifestyle. Plus, what monster says no to fried chicken?
But how does one "review" fried chicken without first coming to an orgasm of words? I find it difficult to type now, even as I remember the crunchy, titillating taste of Pelicana Chicken's delicious fried birds. The taste seeps and travels through your mouth like a cascading waterfall of flavor. Like I said, words cannot properly describe the taste of fried chicken.
So in true Korean fashion, I'm going to do my food review entirely in the mokbang style. Yes, you will have to watch me eat all these delicious fried chicken, one gif at a time. There will be no words, only drool. You're welcome.
Peli Fried Chicken
Everything fried chicken should be and more. Juicy and plump, every bite is a delight. If you've watched My Love From The Star like any normal human being should, you might remember the scene where Jun Ji-hyun danced to Bruno Mars' Marry You.
I swear she was dancing it for the Peli Fried Chicken because nothing less than the promise of everlasting nupitals would suffice.
MOKBANG TIME:
Peli YangNyeom Chicken (with 5 flavors to choose from: Original, Charcoal BBQ, Spring Onion, Garlic and Hot Spice)
Korean fried chicken differs slightly from the kind of fried chicken we're all used to here in Malaysia (Thanks Colonel!) The Peli YangNyeom Chicken consist of the wings and drummets, or as many of my bros would say; the perfect beer food. Plus, there are 5 different flavors for you to choose from. F-I-V-E. If you told my 7 year old self that one day they would create fried chicken with different flavors, I would have not cared because I was a 7 year old.
But my grown up self is now mighty impressed.
Pun totally intended.

What do you have to counter that, Colonel? Huh? HUH? |

They also have 3 different spicy levels for those of you who want to challenge yourselves to the heat of the moment. I'll give a warning first though, the highest spice level totally rekt my tongue. I couldn't taste my own saliva without the sting of the spices reminding me of the terrible mistake I had made.
MOKBANG TIME:
I got to try a level 3 Hot Spice fried chicken. I would not recommend it to anyone who wants to escape with their taste buds intact.
Biggie Drum Burger and Peli Chicken Fillet Rice
So if you're craving fried chicken, I would recommend you go to Pelicana Chicken to fulfill any of your longings. Believe me, it's all worth it. The Colonel will have to take a back seat on this.

Biggie Drum Burger and Peli Chicken Fillet Rice
Once you're done stuffing your face with fried chicken (though I don't know why anyone would want to be "done" with fried chicken), you can either proceed to have the Biggie Drum Burger, which is exactly what it sounds like, or the Peli Chicken Fillet Rice, which again is exactly what it sounds like.
I don't really know how else I can best describe a dish with "chicken fillet rice" in its name.

Read (and watch) everything before this point, because the Pelicana Platter has got it all. It's perfect for sharing with your family or friends, or to stave off the post-breakup blues when you realize that you have ostracized all your loved ones because of fried chicken.
